The 50th anniversary of the VIII Olympic Winter Games represents a unique convergence of events – the commemoration of an important event in Olympic history, an opportunity to recognize the North Lake Tahoe region's Olympic heritage, and the celebration of the 2010 Olympic year when the Winter Games come to Vancouver, returning to the West Coast of North America for the first time since 1960.
