WHO WE ARE

The Olympic Heritage Celebration Committee is a group of dedicated community volunteers, working with local and regional organizations to plan and execute the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the 1960 Winter Games. Scheduled to take place from January 8-17, 2010, the week-long Celebration in Squaw Valley and North Lake Tahoe will culminate with the Olympians' Gala, the inaugural fundraising event for the proposed Squaw Valley Ski Museum.

The Olympic Heritage Committee operates under the auspices of the Squaw Valley Ski Museum Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Foundation's goal is to create and establish the Squaw Valley Ski Museum and Western Winter Sports Heritage Center, a regional cultural facility which will collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret the skiing heritage of the Sierra Nevada while celebrating the spirit and achievement of winter sports pioneers.

The OHC Ambassador Committee, working in conjunction with the Olympic Heritage Celebration Committee, is charged with outreach to 1960 Olympians, the guests of honor at our 50th Anniversary Celebration. Ambassador Committee members are hard at work locating 1960 Olympians around the world. The OHC invites all 1960 athletes and coaches to join our celebration this January, revisit their competition venues at Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe and rekindle the spirit of the 1960 Olympic experience. The Ambassador Committee is organizing a special event program for returning 1960 Olympians and their families during their January 2010 reunion stay in North Lake Tahoe.
